Wisconsin Air National Guard F16 crashes in Michigan

MADISON – A Wisconsin Air National Guard pilot crashed in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula Tuesday night.

An F-16 Fighting Falcon assigned to the 115th Fighter Wing based in Madison crashed at about 8 p.m. Tuesday during a training mission, the guard said.

The cause of the crash and the status of the pilot are unknown, guard officials said.

Emergency responders were at the site of the crash until after midnight.

Michigan media outlets late Tuesday also reported a military plane crash occurring at the same time near Delta and Schoolcraft counties in the upper peninsula. 

The 115th Fighter Wing is conducting evening training missions this week, according to its Facebook page.
