A Milwaukee lawyer has been named a judge for U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
Rachel Blise, senior counsel at Foley & Lardner, was named Thursday by Chief Judge Diane Sykes of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit. Bankruptcy judges serve 14-year terms and are appointed by a majority of the circuit judges where they will serve.
Blise will replace Brett Ludwig, who was appointed to the U.S. District Court last year by former President Donald Trump. District judges serve lifetime appointments.
Blise graduated from Carthage College and in 2010 from Marquette University Law School. After graduation, she clerked for a federal appeals court judge in Texas before returning to Milwaukee and joining Foley & Lardner, where she focused on business litigation, dispute resolution, bankruptcy and business reorganization.
